Acer Predator Helios 300
The previous version Helios 300 (2017) was one of the best if not best-valued gaming laptop from last year. But in this Model, it has far more great features for a fantastic price point. All of those minor and macro things that you would not have liked in the previous model have been updated and grandly revamped the product. There are three significant changes,i.e. the screen, thermal design and the CPU. So we’ll start with the design, well the exterior casing has not been changed it has the same old beautiful black and red colour scheme. That gives an aggressive gamer kind of look. The outer part of the machine has a metalic built although the base is made up of plastic that could have been better. The thermals which were quite mediocre in the previous model but now this is not a case at all. As this machine is quite capable of keeping itself cool after long sessions of gaming. The software inside lets you to spin the fans to its fastest and with this feature the laptop throttled lot less. The fan though makes a little noise to make it cool.
It has a staggering 144 Hz full HD display you’ll get a top quality display panel. The 144 Hz refresh rate helps make the computer feels fast, and the speed is noticeable even when you keep beside the 120 hz. With this display, you would have to pay a bit more than $1000,but it is worth it as many gaming laptops in this price range lack this feature. If you dive into the specs, there is 92% sRGB colour coverage that seals the deal. This does not only suits gaming, but you can also edit photos videos with a great display. This is probably the most processing power that one could buy at this price. There is a considerable bump in the performance if the 7th and the 8th generation chips and the same thing is observed in this gaming laptop because with this one you get more performance boost. It can handle everything you do. Its one of the best for gaming, productivity and even for editing.
The 16 GB ram inside helps for this cause as it efficiently handles all types of tasks. GTX 1060 6 GB on any hardware is impressive, however, in this instant, the GPU does not bare well with 144 Hz display. To make full use of the display, the settings are kept on the lower side to obtain FPS of over 140
Regarding storage the Helios 300 feature 256 GB SSD. The storage is fast, and the laptop runs smoothly. The keypad and the mouse track are decent, not great but not bad either. This laptop has a quite good selection of port having SD card reader USB A, Ethernet port, Kensington lock and headphone jack and charging port. The wireless internet connection is been improved in this model, but the speakers are the same as of the previous model.
Cons: It does not have Thunder bolt three port.
The battery in this model are not revamped as it has the same 48-watt-hour battery which gives you only 2-3 hours of battery life.
Asus VivoBook Pro 15
It is the Asus Vivobook pro 15 because its 15.6 inches and we are knocking down science because the price point on this is 799$. It’s tough to believe that you can get GTX 1050 Ti with 16 GB Ram at such a low price. The system overall is a little bit heavier and is not a thing you want to carry for long periods. The laptop has a silver brushed metallic look to it both on the outside of the lid,and on the inside, the keyboard has an extra row with the number pad and the TI graphics card you might want it to consider it for a potential gaming laptop. There is a fingerprint sensor built in the trackpad that can allow you to login with one touch. If we run into specs, you’ll see that there is an intel 7700HQ quadcore coffee lake CPU which runs at 2.8 Ghz and can turbo upto 3.8GHz. It has Ram of 8GB DDR4 running at 2,400 Mhz but also is available. At 16 GB. For storage, there is 1TB Cgate 5400RPM hard drive installed, but you even can get SSD. The graphics are supported with NVIDIA 1050 with a combination of 15.6 inch 1080p 60Hz TN panel. For the network connectivity, there is an Ethernet port, Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth 4.2.
The display is good front on,but when looked from another angle the colours shift. But the colours results showed that it had 61% of sRGB which is alright at this price. There is a little flex on the lid,but you can’t open the laptop with one hand. The typing on the keyboard is good the keys have plenty of spacing. Moving on to the available i/o options it has got it all. The ethernet, USB 3.0, 3.1 type C port, Thunderbolt port Kensington lock and a full SD card slot. The speakers are good as they have a bit of base and sound clear on full volume.
Powering the laptop is a 47 Watt-hour battery. The battery life while doing basic tasks get upto 3 hours only. While playing games it last 1 hour which is ok. It also can keep its temperatures low which is quite impressive. During more extended periods of gaming, you might nice temperature increasing and an occasional throttling, but it can be ignored. All the modern games did perform ok giving FPS over 50 in the standard settings, but at this price, you can take this at any time.
HP Pavilion Power 15 Gaming Laptop
This is HP pavilion power 15-inch laptop that sells under a $1000 that has a built-in GTX 1050 GPU. This device has full HD IPS 15-inch screen having 1080p at 60Hz giving some decent viewing angles. Although the display is a bit dim, it’s nice to see a laptop with the GPU at this price point that does have a display that is a lot nicer than what we’ve seen a lot of those other gaming laptops that are under $1000. Its entire surface is is made out of black and silver plastic with neon green accents. The overall design has become much modern with a more solid hinge. This device is full of power and has an indeed excellent display. This machine has i7 7700 HQ processor that is a quad-core processor having 8GB of RAM. For storage, it comes with a 1Tb mechanical spinning hard drive 7200RPM which is a little faster than some of the low-end hard drives.
Regarding graphics, it has NVIDIA GTX 1050; it has 2GB of video RAM. The battery power of this laptop allows users to go on about 7-8 hours while doing basic tasks. The keyboard layout is standard featuring only a single stage backlighting. The trackpad is quite long and is not very accurate. On the right of the device, you’ll find a card reader, thunderbolt USB slot HDMI, LAN port and charging port. While on the left there is Kensington lock 3.0 USB slots and an audio jack. It is quite capable of playing modern heavy games, but the performance is just ok as expected due to the price point. This model feature NVME drive so booting up,and transferring files is unsurprisingly fast. The heat management of this laptop is excellent not far too behind some expensive models. The other thing that is striking is the design and compatibility of its charger. Using this device for gaming and productivity is nothing that one could complain about great battery life, good keyboards and non-gamer design make it one of the best gaming laptops under 1000-dollar range that you have to buy if you’re an entry-level gamer.
HP OMEN 15
This is another gaming series of HP Laptops. The first Omen model that came in 2015 was top selling, but in the middle, they got just flat. But now in 2018 with HP omen 15 it just kicks Ass, Straight up this is such a big improvement over the previous generation. The design of this thing is like typical gamer laptops; It has the red face and the classic red accent for HP omen. But still, the design is a bit different as the whole chassis is a little bit smaller and compact. The bottom half of this laptop has an aluminium keyboard deck and a plastic bottom panel that is quite sturdy. But the top half of the laptop is not much sturdy as it has got more flex to the materials and stuff. And the hinge is quite smooth and feels good and durable that can open from one hand. It is a real budget laptop for gamers as with full specs on it comes with just 1100 dollars that are pretty reasonable. When you open the laptop, the first thing that strikes is the bezels that are so thin and so easing to eyes. Its got 15 inches full HD IPS 1080p display.
Another thing that strikes out in this small price is the 144-hertz panel that makes it excellent for games and pretty usable for accurate colour work. Its also got that anti-glare coating what’s more is the viewing angles are great no colour shifting is observed. This model is running the GTX 1060; it’s not like the fastest GPU but a very respectable card even right now in 2018 although this GPU is a couple of years old. It still gives pretty good performance for most AAA titles games. Another pleasant change is thermal performance. There are practically no thermal throttling under benchmarks. The temperatures still run hotter, but no throttling is visible. The fans though make lots of noise even idle it does not keep quiet. The keyboard is pretty good it’s comfortable lighting in zones not individually lit but its good layout but the trackpad is something questionable as it doesn’t use precision drivers, and it feels like a bit of mess. Port selection on the sides are quite limited but are also present on the back.
Along with the SD card slot, USB slots Ethernet, and Kennington locks it also comes with the thunderbolt slot which is fantastic. The speakers are present on the bottom side that is not an ideal position, but they sound good. The battery in it is reasonably large one about 70-watt-hours but as it is a gaming laptop forget about large span battery coverage. This model is so much improved from its predecessors and is completely light on your pocket considering what it brings to the table. So you might consider it buying for your gaming needs.
MSI GV62 is one of the latest entries in the MSI mid-range gaming laptop line. The company has nailed regarding the pricing and spec of this thing. The colour accuracy in this budget is far better than the other gaming laptops in this price. The viewing angles provided by it are great, and there is no backlight bleeding at any brightness level.
The design and build of the laptop are great. It has the same black brushed aluminium top panel with a plastic chassis and a plastic bottom panel that both preserves the lightness and the same old gaming feel. The overall build quality on the laptop is ok. The screen is pretty flexible, and you want to be careful about putting too much weight on the laptop. The screen hinge itself is also a little stiff and cannot open from one hand. The keyboard area is aluminium, and it is quite stiff and the keys are great to type on. MSI is known to produce great keyboards, and this model did not disappoint. There is good key travel with nice spacing; it has steel series lighting which you can customize according to your taste. The trackpad, however, is mediocre, lacking precision drivers,so tracking is imperfect. The port selection is quite diverse having all the stuff that a gaming laptop should have but missing thunderbolt slot that is a big minus.
Regarding Battery power, the machine has 51-watt-hour battery that is relatively small, and it’s partially because the optical drive takes so much space. The speakers, on the other hand, are pretty loud, but the clarity can compromise. The biggest plus point and the reason that makes this bad boy the best laptop under 1000-dollar price point is its performance. This allows you to play any modern demanding game at 1080p along with great frame rates and high settings. The thermals are great with it having three dedicated GPU heat pipes and three CPU heat pipes which at even high loads keep the laptop cool and silent. The final verdict for MSI GV62 is that under $1000 you’ll get solid build quality, excellent performance makes it one of the popular model that you must keep in buying list.
Lenovo Ideapad 700 Gaming Laptop

On the left side of the laptop you’ll get Kensington security lock, charging port, USB 2 and an SSD card slot, headset microphone jack combo and a recovery pin on the right side you’ll have USB slots, Ethernet slot and HDMI port.
The built of the laptop mostly consists of plastic, but by any means, it doesn’t look cheap. The interior design, an aesthetic look that has a plastic finish is quite sleek, elegant and classic. There is a minor flex in the keyboard however it is pretty much on par with other budget gaming notebook. The top section of this machine is pretty good except metal that tends to flex for a little bit. The screen also has a flex due to plastic builtin. This gaming laptop has a 15.6-inch full HD IPS anti-glare display with the resolution of 1920 by 1080p. The colour accuracy is decent, and the brightness levels are pretty good. The viewing angles in this device are great without anyreflections.
The main attraction of this notebook is the GPU that features NVIDIA GTX 950m with 4GB of DDR3 memory. This means you can play quite a few heavy games that are available in this day and age but on medium settings toget decent FPS. While playing games, you don’t have to worry about the increased temperatures as the device won’t get red hot and provide excellent thermal cooling. There is no thermal throttling, and the sound that these fans made are hardly audible. The Trackpad here is of beautiful design, but it can be hard sometimes to push on the sides, but the tracking is pretty smooth. It features a full-size keyboard with good key travel and a backlight. Battery performance is a bit of disappointment on average it will provide 2-3-hour battery life. The sound produced by the speakers is also average. This concludes that you could buy this model if you’re a beginner gamer and then upgrade to a better one later.
